El Alienista/the Alienist

The year is 1896 and New York Times crime reporter John Schuyler Moore is summoned to East River by his friend and former classmate Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, a renowned psychologist and "alienist." On the Williamsburg Bridge, they find the horribly mutilated body of an adolescent boy, a prostitute from one of Manhattan's infamous brothels.
